Allowed metadata

Allowed metadata are pairs of metadata names and types that are allowed to be used on a project. This ensures a consistent set of metadata is used across the project, making automatic processing easier.

When a project has no allowed metadata, users cannot create metadata on any element in the project without having administrator access to the project and using the free edit mode.

Allowed metadata are automatically created when a project administrator creates any metadata through the free edit mode or the API, or when a worker creates any metadata. They can also be created, updated or deleted manually.

Management

Allowed metadata can be edited through the Metadata tab of the project management page. Each name and type pair must be unique.

Updating or deleting an allowed metadata does not update or delete any of the metadata that were created with its name and type. It only prevents users from creating or updating metadata in the future.
